“Self-love has very little to do with how you feel about your outer self.

It’s about accepting all of yourself.” – Tyra Banks

You can only love another person fully if you have also learned to love yourself. “Self-love” can sometimes be hard to achieve especially with all the insecurities we feel. But what does “loving yourself” really mean? What does it look like? or How to do it?

Why Should You Love Yourself More?

When you love yourself more than anything, your self-esteem will be high, and the impact of other people’s words will not affect you. You will be happier, too. You will find it easier to make friends, and you will enjoy the company of others more.

You will not worry about what others think.

What Does It Mean You Love Yourself More?

It means that you should not be afraid to do what you want. It means that you should do the things that make you happy. It shows in your face if you are happy, and other people will love being around you.

It would be best to let go of the things you cannot control and focus on what you can control. This way, you will always be in a good mood and smiling.

There is nothing wrong with having fun! There is nothing wrong with laughing, either! Life is too short not to laugh! Life is also too short not to smile! When your smile comes from deep down inside, it means that everything is going right for once. This will make other people want to smile as well!

How To Love Yourself More?

The root of radical self-love is listening to your instinct and learning to listen to what your body is telling you it needs.

So, here are 44 ways to love yourself:

1. Accept The Fact That You Cannot Please Everyone.

There will always be people who will judge you even if they don’t know what you’ve been through.

2. Flaunt Your Flaws!

Nobody in this world is perfect, love your imperfections. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

3. Have Time For Your Friends And Family.

Remember, relationships may come and go. But your family and friends are constant.

They will always be there for you.

4. Stop Comparing Your Own Success To Other People’s Success.

We have our own path in life to take. As our Lead Pastor said, “Success is being where you’re supposed to be, doing exactly what you’re supposed to do.”

5. Exercise Regularly!

This can help you release stress and will even help you to be healthy.

Don’t let yourself suffer from physical, emotional, and mental illness. Do regular exercises, have a balanced and healthy diet, drink enough water and liquid, have enough rest and sleep, go on a vacation and relaxation, and always do meditation.

Be kind to yourself by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

6. Expand Your Interests.

Learn a new language or other things you haven’t done before.

7. Take Long Walks Or Ride A Bike.

Explore the place you live in, sometimes we get too busy with work we tend to neglect the beauty of our environment.

8. Have Yourself An Affirming Mantra, And Repeat It Daily.

(for example: “I am loved.”)

9. Go To A Museum, Appreciate Art.

10. Discover And Listen To New Music

Try other genres that you haven’t listened to before. Who knows, you might find your new favorite song.

11. Pamper Yourself.

Every living thing gets tired and stressed, and they need to be pampered every once in a while. You are no exception to that. So, it would be best if you set aside time to pamper yourself just to get away from everyone and everything that wears you down.

Go for a massage or a spa treatment. Have a facial, get a new haircut, dye your hair, or treat yourself to a refreshing cup of tea. These things allow you to unwind even without going far away, and they help you see a better version of yourself, i.e. the person you’ve always aspired of becoming. The happy, carefree, and contented person. You may not be in this state all the time, but by pampering yourself, you become nearer to this ideal.

12. Make New Friends.

Go out and chill somewhere where you can meet new people and make friends.

13. Buy The Books You Have Been Wanting To Read For A Very Long Time.

14. Go To The Beach!

The calming waves of the ocean and breeze will make you feel relaxed.

15. Take Pictures!

Capture those precious moments and don’t forget to print them.

16. Save Money And Travel To Different Places.

17. Smile Often.

You will feel happy if you smile more. It will make other people happy too.

18. Don’t Allow Toxic People In Your Life.

They will only make you feel discouraged all the time.

Don’t make a companion with a fool so you may not learn his or her ways. Don’t make friends with people who will corrupt your good character.

Stay away from people who will show you and teach you how to be prideful, hateful, selfish, closed-minded, liar, and ungrateful.

19. Forgive Yourself, You Are Not Perfect.

The mistakes you made in the past are supposed to give you lessons in life and help you grow as a person. They did not happen to hinder you from moving on with life. They did not occur to stop you from becoming a greater person.

Don’t make another mistake (that is, not forgiving yourself) from your mistake. Whether people are blaming you or not, whether they have forgiven you or not, be the first to forgive yourself and not blame it. Besides, people will find it difficult to forgive you if you cannot even forgive yourself.

Be kind to yourself by giving yourself the forgiveness it deserves. Don’t be too harsh on yourself.

20. Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself.

It’s okay to do your best but don’t put too much pressure on what you are doing, it will only make you feel stressed out.

21. Organize Your Stuff!

A clean space or bedroom will make you feel relaxed and less cranky.

22. Volunteer

Volunteer on a project from an organization, not only will you feel happy but you will also learn that helping those who are in need is a great deed.

23. Spend Time Alone.

Watch a movie or eat at a restaurant. There’s nothing wrong with being alone in those places. Be your own reliable companion.

Remember, all of us have different struggles in life, we need to be sensitive to the feelings of others.

38. Meditate.

A lot of us feel toxic all the time, and while we find ways to unwind by hanging out with friends, doing vices such as smoking, drinking, or eating a lot, these are not forms of self-love. Nor do they help in getting rid of the toxicity we are feeling.

Hence, you may want to include time to pray or meditate. This quiet time allows you to connect to your senses and feel through your emotions. Meditating also serves as your opportunity to talk to God and hear his guidance, and as well as your heart and its ramblings.

By meditating you can let go of the pains, grudges, qualms, and doubts that you’ve been holding on to for quite some time. Once you have let them go, the lighter and happier, not to mention healthier you’d feel.

39. Be Of Service To Others And Don’t Expect Anything In Return.

40. Always Remember That You Are Worth It.

41. Cook Yourself A Hearty Meal.

You should start seeing yourself as a person of true, high, value. You may have forgotten your worth already due to your time being taken by someone else, but it’s you now have the choice to treat yourself better and give in the pampering you deserve.

42. Go On A Solo Trip!

Solo journeys also tell you something new about yourself. You discover new skills and talents, most of them

you never knew you had. These are very important because you are able to form a new version of yourself –stronger, fresher, better you.

43. Enjoy Being With Yourself.

It is also recommended that you enjoy alone time. It’s the right moment to let go of the sadness because now you have the freedom to do what you want, using your own rules.

44. Learn To Accept The Truth.

Do not lie to yourself. Do not reject the truth but accept it. It may hurt at first, but when you learn to embrace the truth it will help set yourself free.

Loving yourself is a way for you to improve and become the best version of yourself. It is not a one-time event, it is an ongoing process. It begins with you, surrounding yourself with your own appreciation and affection. And when the right time comes, you will find the right person who deserves you. For now, seize the day and enjoy your life
